Michael and Saber

Michael and Saber

Today I want to share with you a story about a service dog that near and dear to my heart. Her name is Saber and she is the service animal of my good friend Michael. Saber an American Bulldog that is just over 1 year old. She was trained to respond to hand-signals, by Michael, on account of the fact that she is deaf. She was rescued from Cobb County Animal Shelter, by a friend of Michael’s when she was 4 months old. She weighted only 10 lbs after having been abused and owner surrendered to the shelter. We believe she was abused b6y a male as she is still skidish of most men that are not Michael or someone she sees often. Michael adopted her in April of 2011 and while he did not original intend for her to be a service animal for him, she naturally took on the role and is now a fixture in his life and the life of those around him. The nature of her service is she helps Michael with the symptoms of his PTSD and as he put it, “she sticks to my, side studies my every move and knows when something is wrong with me.”
